Route
PendingThe routes are written. They are not yet mapped.
This entry's cultural layer already names where it came from and how it moved. What it does not yet carry is that movement as structure: ordered waypoints with real coordinates, and a mechanism on each leg. Until it does, the layer stays an empty slot rather than a drawn line, because a map built from prose would be a guess with a projection under it.

Rite
Vanilla is Totonac, and the orchid is pollinated in the wild by a bee that lives only there, which is why the crop went nowhere until a twelve-year-old enslaved boy on Reunion, Edmond Albius, worked out hand-pollination in 1841. Every vanilla pod grown outside Mesoamerica uses his method. He died poor and uncredited in his lifetime. The technique that built a global industry was invented by someone the industry owned.
