Route

Pending

The routes are written. They are not yet mapped.

This entry's cultural layer already names where it came from and how it moved. What it does not yet carry is that movement as structure: ordered waypoints with real coordinates, and a mechanism on each leg. Until it does, the layer stays an empty slot rather than a drawn line, because a map built from prose would be a guess with a projection under it.

Rite

The passion in passion fruit is the Crucifixion. Spanish missionaries in South America read the flower as a diagram of the Passion: the corona filaments as the crown of thorns, three stigmas as the nails, five stamens as the wounds, and took it as proof that the land had been waiting for them. The Guarani had grown and named it long before. A plant was recruited as evidence for the theology of the people who arrived, which is roughly how the whole encounter was narrated.
