guanábana

It is already good enough to be worth growing.

Cultural layer

Origin
The Caribbean and northern South America; Annona muricata, a large spined fruit with soft acidic pulp, named from a Taíno word
Routes
Grown across the tropical Americas and carried to Southeast Asia and West Africa; sold globally now as a juice and, more aggressively, as a health supplement
Context
Guanábana is a batido fruit: pulped with milk and ice and drunk on a hot afternoon across the Caribbean and Latin America. It is also marketed online as a cancer cure, which it is not, and that trade takes an ordinary fruit from ordinary kitchens and sells it back as a miracle. The batido is the honest version. It is already good enough to be worth growing.

Route

Pending

The routes are written. They are not yet mapped.

This entry's cultural layer already names where it came from and how it moved. What it does not yet carry is that movement as structure: ordered waypoints with real coordinates, and a mechanism on each leg. Until it does, the layer stays an empty slot rather than a drawn line, because a map built from prose would be a guess with a projection under it.
