Route

Pending

The routes are written. They are not yet mapped.

This entry's cultural layer already names where it came from and how it moved. What it does not yet carry is that movement as structure: ordered waypoints with real coordinates, and a mechanism on each leg. Until it does, the layer stays an empty slot rather than a drawn line, because a map built from prose would be a guess with a projection under it.

Rite

Deer were the king's animal in medieval England and hunting one without right was a hanging offence, so venison was the meat that could not be bought and only given, which made a haunch a political gift. In Nordic and Sami practice the first hunt of a season carries its own observances and the animal is used entire. The same meat marked aristocratic privilege in one place and subsistence obligation in another.
