What this does is transfer cultural authority: from the communities that developed the knowledge to the companies now selling it.

Route
PendingThe routes are written. They are not yet mapped.
This entry's cultural layer already names where it came from and how it moved. What it does not yet carry is that movement as structure: ordered waypoints with real coordinates, and a mechanism on each leg. Until it does, the layer stays an empty slot rather than a drawn line, because a map built from prose would be a guess with a projection under it.

Rite
Turmeric marks the body at the thresholds of life. Haldi is rubbed on the skin of bride and groom before a South Asian wedding, in a ceremony named for it, and it colours the thread, the cloth and the auspicious mark. Its yellow is the colour of the monastic robe and of purity across Hindu and Buddhist practice. The wellness aisle sells it as an anti-inflammatory, which is true and is the least of what it does.

Piperine from the pepper inhibits the hepatic and intestinal glucuronidation that otherwise clears curcumin before it reaches circulation. In human volunteers 20 mg of piperine with 2 g of curcumin raised bioavailability by 2000 percent. Ayurvedic practice paired them for centuries; the 1998 paper supplied the figure, not the insight.
