Route

Pending

The routes are written. They are not yet mapped.

This entry's cultural layer already names where it came from and how it moved. What it does not yet carry is that movement as structure: ordered waypoints with real coordinates, and a mechanism on each leg. Until it does, the layer stays an empty slot rather than a drawn line, because a map built from prose would be a guess with a projection under it.

Molasses is the residue of the sugar economy and it went to the people the economy used. It was the sweetener of enslaved and poor households across the American South and the Caribbean, distilled into the rum that funded the triangular trade, and Black Southern cooking built its baking on it. In 1919 a Boston storage tank burst and a wave of it killed twenty-one people. The by-product carries the whole industry's history in it.
